Male chimpanzees that wage a campaign of sustained aggression against females sire more offspring than their less violent counterparts, new research finds. The results suggest that such nasty behavior from males evolved because it gave the meanest males a reproductive advantage, said study co-author Ian Gilby, a primatologist at Arizona State University in Phoenix. This chimpanzee behavior could also provide some insight into the roots of sexual aggression in men. The battle of the sexes is supercharged in the chimpanzee world. Males charge at females, rip out their hair and kick, slap or beat them.

Chimpanzees laugh when tickled. This means that chimpanzees are capable of reasoned thought, abstraction and generalization. They can even recognize themselves in a mirror—most other animals cannot! We have the same bones, muscles, nervous system and the same number of fingers and toes. Chimpanzees see and experience the world much as we do.

Humans have a much longer and wider penis than the other great apes. Even the largest of gorillas, more than twice as heavy as a human, will have a penis just two and half inches long when erect. However our testicles are rather small. The relative size of our penis and testes is all down to our mating strategies, and can provide some surprising insights into early human culture.
Two ancestral chromosome pairs fuse at their telomeres to form human chromosome 2 during evolution. Humans and chimps have 1. The human genome is the collection of human DNA. Humans are the most developed members of the mammal order primate. Humans, gorillas, chimpanzees, bonobos, and orangutans are close relatives collectively called the great apes.
