The incoming cheerleader at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, who used a racial slur on social media has been removed from the team and will not be attending UT in the fall, the university announced Thursday. A Twitter thread showing the student using a racial slur twice began drawing attention on Wednesday. The tweets asked people to reach out to the university and express their concerns. Screenshots and recordings of the posts attracted attention on Twitter, with a video recording of the student using the slur being viewed over 30, times Wednesday.

She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in She was a member of the school basketball team, coached by Jill Prudden, that won the Tennessee state championship in As of , she still held the high school's single-season records for total points scored and for successful free throws. She attended the University of Tennessee from to , playing as a guard under coach Pat Summitt on the university's Lady Vols basketball team, which compiled a —13 won-loss record during her playing years. Fargas was known for her strong defensive play and her three-point shooting.

The University of Kentucky just axed its entire cheerleading coaching staff over allegations of hazing, heavy boozing and public nudity. The school launched an investigation after allegations of debauchery at a cheerleader retreat back in February at Lake Cumberland. Team members allegedly engaged in nude routines -- including topless and bottomless basket tosses into the water from a dock. School officials say the activities were carried out while under the supervision of team coaches. The school also says team members slammed alcohol during boat parties -- and several members required medical treatment.
